Claudia Nell was a professional special educator for 22 years. In that time, she worked with students ages 3-22 in a variety of educational settings in Boston, New York and, finally, Memphis. During her time as a special educator, she fell in love with teaching students to read, write and communicate in order to share themselves with the world. She joined the team at ALLMemphis as an English Language Arts Coordinator, assisting the organization as they expand the scope of the curriculum to cover all aspects of literacy. She holds a Master of Professional Studies in special education from Manhattanville College and 40 graduate credits in anthropology and education from Teachers College, Columbia University. In her time as an educator, she found success in meeting children and families where they were; collaborating effectively with colleagues; and developing functional plans to attain both academic and social-emotional goals. She is an avid reader, runner and outdoor lover. She spends her free time with her two children, exploring all that Memphis has to offer.
